Salvo Fasone meets for Cluster Magazine, Matt Barnes, bass guitarist of You Me At Six, an english rock band that will be playing the entire Warped Tour 2012.
First of all thank you so much for accepting to spend some time with us. How are you guys feeling now?
We’re good, just about to finish up touring the UK, it’s been a lot of fun!
You’re currently touring the world, you played the US, then Asia, Australia, now back in your country. What’s the difference among these countries’ fans? Like what’s the craziest crowd you’ve faced in a show?
The crowds are rather similar, but the UK fans are a lot more mental than the others! One of the craziest crowds we have ever faced was on this tour in Glasgow… 6000 Scots going mad is a great sight.
You played Soundwave in Australia with such great bands like A Day To Remember, how would you describe this experience?
It’s the best festival in the world. You got sun, great people and great bands all in the same place. It’s living the dream.
If I tell you Warped Tour 2012 … what do you tell me back? What are you expecting from this huge tour and what fans should expect from you?
We’re all really looking forward to it this year. I think it’s one of the best line ups for a long time, so we can’t wait to get stuck in. Fans can just expect us to go crazy and do what we normally do.
How did you end up doing “The Swarm” for Thorpe Park’s? It seems like everyone loved that song.
Thorpe Park came to us mentioning the idea of a song for this ride, explained it to us and we gave it a shot! This is what came out and we were really happy with it, plus it’s really fun to play live.
What’s your favorite song off the record and why?
My favourite song off the album is Bite My Tongue. It’s the most meaningful between all of us and you can really tell how we once felt.
Where did you film “No One Does It Better” and why this song as third single off “Sinners Never Sleep”?
We recorded the video in LA when we had a day off on the tour we were just on. We literally squeezed it in and just got all the shots done before the day was up! We wanted to go for a bit of a slower song and not just all the heavy songs one after an other, surprise the fans!
You played Cesena last June. What do you think about your Italian fans?
I loved the show and I love Italy, the promoters took us out during the day and we got to see the town it was amazing, plus we had some amazing pizza and ice cream, all the fans were so nice and receptive aswell, I can’t wait to come back!
When are we gonna see You Me At Six back to Italy again?
As soon as you guys want us, haha!!!
